Simalungun, 19 November 2023. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) through the XL Axiata Taklim Council (MTXL Axiata) inaugurated the clean water facilities project in Dairi Regency, Saturday (18/11) and Simalungun Regency, Sunday (19/11). The clean water facility project is ready for use, located at the Al-Asma Mosque, Kuta Padang Village, Sidikalang District, Dairi Regency, and at the Taqwa Mosque, Limag Raya Dusun II Village, Raya District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province. Present at the inauguration included the Director of Finance & Solution at MTXL Axiata Central, Cartesius Nugroho Victorianto, Chairman of MTXL Axiata West Region, Maf'ul Taufiq, and local community leaders.
Chairman of the Central XL Axiata Taklim Council, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya said, "Thank God, clean water facilities have been completed for the benefit of the village and surrounding communities. We would like to thank all parties who have helped realize the construction of these two projects. It is a matter of pride for XL Axiata management and employees to be able to immediately build public facilities that are really needed by the people in Dairi Regency and Simalungun Regency. "Hopefully this clean water facility will bring benefits to the people of Kuta Padang Village and Limag Raya Dusun II Village."
Yanuar added that the clean water development was based on the results of surveys and assessments that had been carried out regarding the conditions of areas that needed clean water for people who needed clean water. This development comes from zakat and ‘infaq’ funds from XL Axiata management and employees to help people in need. XL Axiata is committed to continuing to increase its contribution to society as a form of care through programs like this. Now, XL Axiata is proving its commitment by building clean water facilities in two locations in North Sumatra.
Construction of clean water in Kuta Padang Village was from 23 June 2023 to 3 July 2023. Meanwhile, the construction of clean water in Limag Raya Dusun II Village was from 14 August 2023 to 28 August 2023.
In Sumatra, programs that have been completed include the Soetiman Mosque Waqf Program in Meulaboh, Aceh, Building Bridges and Clean Water in Banyuasin, South Sumatra, Smart Farm Productive Zakat Program in Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra, and Green Tourism Empowerment in Bandar Lampung, Lampung.
MTXL Axiata collaborates with the Indonesia Zakat Initiative (IZI) for the construction project of clean water facility. Clean water facilities in Kuta Padang Village and Limag Raya Dusun II Village have long been hoped for by the local community. In Kuta Padang Village there are 130 heads of families, while in Limag Raya Dusun II Village there are 120 heads of families who can use clean water for bathing, washing clothes and even just for defecation. The clean water facility that was built uses filtering technology to provide clean water that is suitable for use for various daily needs.
Funds for the construction of clean water facilities in North Sumatra are zakat and infaq funds from XL Axiata management and employees which are managed by the XL Axiata Taklim Council to be distributed to communities who are entitled to receive them. MTXL Axiata strives to continue to spread kindness to build relationships with community groups from various circles and various regions. This program for building clean water facilities and mosques is in collaboration with the social welfare institution, Indonesia Zakat Initiative (IZI).
