GARUT, AUGUST 17, 2024. The management team of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) marked the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in a unique way. Joined by about 79 employees, several XL Axiata executives set out on a motorcycle trip to Garut, West Java, on Thursday, August 15th. On the morning of Saturday, August 17, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day, the XL Axiata group visited Special Needs School (SLB) C Karya Bhakti Foundation Garut, SLB Negeri B Garut, and the Panti Guna from Karya Bhakti Foundation in Sukakarya Village, Tarogong Kidul District, Garut. They celebrated this significant day with dozens of students, including participating in a flag-raising ceremony and the reading of the Proclamation of Independence.

The management leaders present at the event included XL Axiata's Director & Chief Technology Officer, I Gede Darmayusa, Director & Chief Commercial Officer-Home Convergence, Abhijit J. Navalekar, Chief Corporate Affairs, Marwan O Baasir, and Chief Human Capital Officer, M. Hira Kurnia.

Hira Kurnia stated, “At XL Axiata, we pay special attention to our brothers and sisters with disabilities, especially in preparing them for digitalization across various fields. Specifically, through the XL Axiata Peduli Disabilitas program, the company engages employees in various ongoing activities, including digital skills training and internships. All of this is intended to make sure that individuals with disabilities are ready and assured as they step into the growing digital job market."

Hira added that the XL Axiata group’s visit on Independence Day also underscored the company's and employees' deep commitment through the XL Axiata Baik program. As part of this initiative, employee representatives provided donations to assist people with disabilities, ensuring they can also share in the progress made since the country’s independence 79 years ago.

To Special Needs School (SLB) C Karya Bhakti Foundation, SLB Negeri B Garut, and the Panti Guna from Karya Bhakti Foundation, XL Axiata gradually distributed "independence gifts" including laptops for all SLBs, educational funds, student skills support tools, and activities to enhance students' skills. Additionally, routers and one-year data packages were provided through the XL Axiata Quota Donation Movement program.

Hira Kurnia mentioned that the digital skills development program for people with disabilities aligns with the company's commitment to running programs aligned with the principles of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), especially those related to quality education, inclusive and equitable learning, and lifelong learning opportunities for everyone, including individuals with disabilities. This dedication is also evident in XL Axiata’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI).

During the tour, the management team also performed a network quality assessment at Sayang Heulang Beach, one of Garut's bustling areas. They then visited selected XL Home customers to collect direct feedback and ensure they are satisfied with XL Axiata's services.
