Re-launch the Quota Donation Movement XL Axiata Donates 3 Million MB of Data to Dozens of Schools

Through the Quota Donation Movement (GDK) Program, XL Axiata also donated high-speed internet access data, routers, and digital literacy training to teachers and students. The training covered the importance of digital literacy, strategies for creating IoT solutions, and techniques for monetizing digital content. SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi was selected as one of the schools receiving GDK data, partly due to its achievements, particularly in utilizing digital technology.

CIMAHI, SEPTEMBER 13, 2024. Continuing its support for the digitalization of education in Indonesia, PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) has re-launched the Quota Donation Movement (GDK). This program aims to support the government in enhancing digital literacy in the education sector by distributing free internet access of up to 3,000,000 MB to educational institutions in need. The launch took place at SMKN 1 Cimahi on Friday (13/9), marked by the distribution of data donations to 28 schools. The event was led by XL Axiata's Chief Corporate Affairs, Marwan O Baasir, alongside the Head of the West Java Regional Education Office VII, Dr. H. Ai Nurhasan, AP., M.Si, the Secretary of Cimahi City Education Office, Heni, and the Principal of SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi, Agus Priyatmono Nugroho.

 

Marwan O Baasir stated, "Digital literacy in education is becoming increasingly crucial in driving innovation and development. However, many schools still face challenges in accessing digital services to support the teaching and learning process. Access to digital technology is, in fact, a critical element in opening up new opportunities for both students and teachers to improve the quality of education."

 

Marwan added that, besides data, XL Axiata also donated internet routers and provided digital literacy training to teachers and students. The training covers the importance of digital literacy, strategies for creating IoT solutions, and techniques for monetizing digital content. This support is expected to assist educational institutions overcome challenges related to limited budgets and insufficient digital infrastructure.

 

The Head of the West Java Regional Education Office VII, Ai Nurhasan, stated, "We appreciate XL Axiata's effort through the Quota Donation Movement. This program aligns well with our efforts to promote digital education in West Java, especially in our region. The internet access provided will be highly beneficial for both students and teachers in utilizing digital technology for learning. We hope that this partnership will continue and lead to even greater positive outcomes."

 

As it approaches its 28th anniversary, XL Axiata remains committed to supporting the growth of digital education in Indonesia, particularly in orphanages, schools for students with disabilities, and Islamic boarding schools. Through the Quota Donation Movement (GDK), XL Axiata aims to expand access to the internet and digital technology for communities in need, enabling them to keep pace with technological advancements and have equal opportunities for learning and growth. This GDK support is expected to bridge the digital divide and encourage a tech-savvy younger generation across all layers of society.

 

At this stage, XL Axiata is also providing assistance to 15 schools under the Lentera Membangun Bangsa Foundation. These 15 schools are spread across various regions in Indonesia, including Gunungsitoli, Medan, Gunung Agung Tulang Bawang Barat, Lampung, Curug Tangerang Banten, Kupang City, NTT, Lekunik - Ba’a Rote Island, West Manggarai, and Tomohon Tengah, North Sulawesi.

 

In addition to the 15 schools from Lentera Harapan School and SMKN 1 Cimahi, XL Axiata has also distributed assistance to several special needs schools (SLB) and foundations such as Al Musyahadah Islamic Boarding School, Darul Hamid Free Islamic boarding school, As-Sanuusiyyah Islamic boarding school, Kebun Kopi Orphanage, Mizan Amanah Pojok Orphanage, Insan Kamil Mandiri Orphan Islamic boarding school, SLB B Prima Bhakti Mulia, SLBN A Citeureup Cimahi, SLBN 2 Sentra PKPLK Cimahi, Ulul Azmi, SLB Cahaya Insani, and Baitul Anshor Islamic boarding school. These schools and foundations are located in areas covered by XL Axiata’s 4G network, ensuring that the internet access they receive is of high quality.

 

 

Customer Participation

 

The GDK Program offers customers the opportunity to participate. It's easy to do through the Axisnet app:

 

  1. Activate the Bronet internet package in the Axisnet app (terms and conditions apply).
  2. Select the Data Donation feature.
  3. Choose the category of beneficiaries, such as Schools, Islamic Boarding Schools, Special Needs Schools, or Orphanages.
  4. Choose the amount of data to donate, ranging from 50MB, 100MB, to 150MB.
  5. Confirm the donation to complete the process.

 

To make it even easier for customers to participate, the program has also been integrated with the MyXL app since September 6, 2024.

 

Since its launch on June 5 until the end of July 2024, more than 20,000 Axisnet customers have participated in the GDK Initiative. Through the Axisnet app, customers can donate their internet data to various educational institutions, including schools, Islamic boarding schools, special needs schools, and orphanages. Donations collected during this period have reached approximately 3,000,000 MB.

 

 

Achievements of SMKN 1 Cimahi

 

SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi was chosen as one of the schools to receive GDK data due to its notable achievements, particularly in leveraging digital technology. In October 2023, the school won first place in the Haxathon Competition: Automation and Industrial IoT, organized by the Electrical Engineering Program of Maranatha Christian University in collaboration with Rexroth Bosch Company. This event tested participants in the fields of industrial automation and the Internet of Things (IoT) to tackle challenges in the tech world.

 

Additionally, in March 2024, SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi won the Maranatha Automation Championship 2024, also organized by the Electrical Engineering Program of Maranatha University Bandung. The competition, themed “Intelligent Manufacture Solutions for the Future,” showcased young talents in the field of Electrical Engineering.

 

In the Apprentice category, which is open to high school and vocational school students, the students specializing in Industrial Automation Engineering (TOI) at SMK Negeri 1 Cimahi demonstrated their excellence in operating and controlling machinery using Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software. With strong ladder logic skills, they achieved a prestigious position in this competition.
