SURABAYA, AUGUST 2, 2024. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) is conducting a series of digital competency training sessions for people with disabilities in Surabaya. This training aims to prepare individuals with disabilities for the workforce. A total of twenty participants with disabilities are attending the two-day training on August 2 and 3, 2024. In addition to Surabaya, these training sessions will also be held in Medan, Bandung, and Jakarta.
Dodik Ariyanto, Regional Group Head XL Axiata East Region, stated, "The digital era presents challenges for Indonesians entering the workforce, especially for those with disabilities. Even for those without disabilities, having adequate digital literacy and skills is essential to compete and meet the demands of the job market. As a company committed to supporting individuals with disabilities, XL Axiata is offering this digital competency and job readiness training with a curriculum tailored to their needs."
Through this program, XL Axiata aims to provide inclusive job readiness support for people with disabilities. The company is committed to creating an inclusive work environment aligned with its principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) and in line with its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program series of XL Axiata Peduli Disabilitas Siap Kerja began on July 30, 2024. The training participants consist of 115 individuals with disabilities from six local disability community partners, including Khadijah Sharaswaty House for People with Disabilities Medan, Dilans Indonesia Bandung, Peduli Kasih Foundation for Children with Special Needs Surabaya, FeminisThemis Surabaya, Bisindo and Accessibility Team Surabaya, and Indonesian Disabled Persons Association.
Participants in the Surabaya training are aged between 18 and 40 years. They are being taught how to enhance their digital skills and utilize digital tools, particularly in the workplace. The digital literacy topics covered include self-assessment using graphology, digital workspace management, audiovisual documentation, digital publication on social media, and insights into inclusive work environments. All training materials will be guided by experienced mentors in their respective fields.
Dodik added that after completing the training, it is hoped that participants with disabilities will gain increased self-confidence, enabling them to seize equal opportunities in the job market. Selected participants who have completed the program will have the chance to intern for six weeks at XL Axiata offices in four cities: Surabaya, Medan, Bandung, and Jakarta. To fully support the internship program, XL Axiata management will also create an inclusive work environment specifically for the interns with disabilities.
Employees have been prepared to assist and facilitate the selected interns with disabilities. Employees from various departments at XL Axiata will support and explain the processes and work environment at the company. Training for employees to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues with disabilities has also been conducted by XL Axiata.
Through these activities, XL Axiata aims to enhance the potential and self-confidence of individuals with disabilities, helping them to take initiative, contribute meaningfully to their environment, and achieve equal opportunities in the workforce while continuing to #JadiLebihBaik.
