Jakarta, 12 August 2023. Employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) through the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council (MTXL Axiata) held the "Semarak Muharram - Merdeka Beramal" (Happy Muharram – Independent in Charity) program which was held in various cities in Indonesia. Activities that were simultaneously carried out on Saturday (12/8) were mass circumcision for 50 children in Jakarta, as well as giving charity to orphans in Medan, Palembang, Lebak, Bandung, Banjarmasin, Makassar, and Banyuwangi. In addition, there are also similar activities at the MTXL Assisted Mosques in Aceh, East Java, and Central Sulawesi.
The Chairman of MTXL Axiata, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya, said, "MTXL Axiata is committed to continuing to increase its contribution to society through beneficial and sustainable programs. One of the programs currently running “Semarak Muharram - Merdeka Beramal" distributes packages in the form of compensation, staple food, and school equipment which coincides with the celebration of the month of Muharram 1445H and the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence. The total beneficiaries of this activity are more than 500 people spread across 11 cities in Indonesia. Hopefully, this activity can bring benefits and happiness to the community. ”
Yanuar added that through this program, XL Axiata employees do not only focus on the work area but can contribute more to society. Management also wants to create a culture of employees to care about the surrounding environment and provide more goodness for the people of Indonesia.
MTXL Axiata collaborated with IZI (Indonesian Zakat Initiative/Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia) to carry out a mass circumcision event which took place at the Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) of Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. The children participating in the circumcision are children who are included in the “mustahik “category. Each child will receive a gift in the form of compensation, sarong, snacks, medicine, and circumcision pants.
Meanwhile, in the activity of sharing compensation for orphans, MTXL Axiata collaborates with several agencies in distributing it in seven cities. In Medan, MTXL Axiata is working with LAZNAS Daarut Tauhiid Cares for North Sumatra, in Palembang, working with the Dhuafa Al Umuar Palembang Orphan Islamic Boarding School, and in Lebak working with the Al-Hidayah Mosque Banten.
For the distribution in Bandung, MTXL Axiata cooperates with the Al Fitrah Tholibin Bandung Foundation, in Banyuwangi with Darul Aitam Darussalam Banyuwangi, in Banjarmasin with Rumah Harapan and the Sentosa Banjarmasin Orphanage, and in Makassar, with the Ilahi Orphanage, Makassar.
At the MTXL Assisted Mosque, special Muharram study activities were also carried out, and the donation for orphans and duafa. The activity took place at Soetiman Mosque, Meulaboh, Aceh, Sadiah bint Hadad Gandadiwirja Mosque, Magetan, East Java, and Kartini Soenantara Mosque, Luwuk, Central Sulawesi. The three mosques were built by MTXL Axiata through raising funds from XL Axiata's management and employees for the surrounding community and became MTXL-assisted mosques in their management.
Funds to finance the “Semarak Muharram - Merdeka Beramal” program are the result of collecting zakat, “infaq”, and alms funds for XL Axiata employees which are routinely collected every month and managed by MTXL Axiata to be distributed to people who are entitled to receive zakat.
Apart from the sharing program with orphans and the poor (duafa), MTXL Axiata often distributes sharing activities that have been carried out in previous years to help communities in various regions, such as building bridges, water sources, electricity sources, procuring water depots, blood donations, house renovations, building roads, build bridges, to build mosques.
