Jakarta, 18 October 2021. The management and employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) held various social actions to celebrate the company's 25th anniversary. Through the "XL Axiata Baik" program, social actions were carried out in various areas in various forms, from remodeling (renovation) people's houses, to donating internet access and laptops for Islamic boarding schools. Meanwhile, through the XL Axiata Taklim Council (MTXL), employee donations were also distributed in the form of a number of public facilities for the community in several areas. This corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity will be implemented starting in October 2021 and is expected to be completed in June 2022.
XL Axiata's Chief Human Capital Officer, M. Hira Kurnia, said, “XL Axiata is committed to continuing to increase its contribution to society through sustainable CSR programs through the XL Axiata Baik Program which has been running for the past year or so. As part of the Indonesian community, we cannot possibly turn a blind eye to the various social problems faced by the community, and therefore we and our employees want to always be able to help. Management also wants to create a culture of employees to care about the surrounding environment and hopefully this good thing can inspire and create domino effects for other good things.”
Hira Kurnia added that XL Axiata management is trying to raise funds from employees to jointly help people in need. Employee involvement in CSR programs is also in the form of volunteering their time and energy in social actions, as well as teaching their knowledge and skills to communities in need.
One of the social actions currently being carried out is the renovation of houses for residents in need in Sumbersari Village, Palang District, Tuban Regency, East Java. A house measuring 7.5 meters x 5 meters inhabited by an elderly person who is not suitable to be occupied was restored and rebuilt to be habitable and equipped with household appliances such as beds, cabinets, chairs and stoves. In addition to rebuilding the house, XL Axiata's management and employees also donated 100 food packages to poor people around the house renovation.
Other social actions that will also begin in October 2021 include employee teaching activities for students, router donations, free internet access for one year, and donations of suitable laptops/gadgets from employees to the AL-IBTIDA Islamic Boarding School in Tanjung Pakis, Karawang, West Java. , procurement of refill water depots in Pakong Village, Pakong District, Pamekasan Regency, East Java Province, thereby helping to create job opportunities for surrounding residents in Madura and provision of water stations for filtering ready-to-drink water for five mosques in Bandung.
This activity is part of the implementation of XL Axiata's commitment to enter the age of 25 in an effort to Build a Digital Indonesia.
Several other CSR activities in XL Axiata Baik carried out by employees during 2021, were such as convalescent blood donors for Covid-19 survivors, volunteers at the Vaccination Center of Indonesia Bangkitat RSUI, Depok, and RSUP of H Adam Malik, Medan. In addition, education and donations to educational/non-profit foundations in various regions are also provided.
Employee donations for the community are also distributed through the XL Axiata Taklim Council (MTXL). In October 2021, the employee waqf was realized in a number of activities, including the construction of a mosque in West Aceh Regency, as well as the provision of clean water facilities in TalangLubuk Village, SumberMargaTelang District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. Next, the construction of a bridge in the fishing village of Muara Gembong, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
Head of MTXL Axiata, YanuarTirtaKumaya, said, “MTXL Axiata seeks to facilitate employees and leaders who are mainly Muslim to donate some of their fortune to help find solutions to community problems in various regions. However, we employees have been living in the community and are aware of some of the social problems that arise. Therefore, we should also be ready to help find solutions to social problems faced by the community according to our abilities.”
On Saturday (16/10) yesterday, the Head of MTXL Axiata held groundbreaking of the construction of a Mosque Waqf in BlangBeurandang Village, Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency. The fund for the construction of the 19 meter X 21 meter mosque came entirely from donations from XL Axiata employees. To realize this development, XL Axiata collaborates with the Rumah Zakat Indonesia Foundation. Construction is expected to be completed in April 2022.
