JAKARTA, OCTOBER 29, 2024. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) continues to strengthen its position in the telecommunications industry through collaboration with Huawei Indonesia in network automation development. Through this partnership, XL Axiata has successfully achieved AOMM Level 3.0, which is a pretty high standard set by TM Forum for automation. This achievement establishes XL Axiata as a pioneer of internationally standardized autonomous networks in Indonesia, providing high-quality connectivity with optimal efficiency.
Director & Chief Technology Officer of XL Axiata, I Gede Darmayusa, emphasized that reaching AOMM Level 3.0 is a crucial step in XL Axiata's mission to become a converged and automated network provider. With Huawei’s partnership, XL Axiata can enhance network productivity and deliver more reliable services to customers. Automation enables the company to monitor and optimize the network in real time, enhancing responsiveness to disruptions and ensuring an excellent user experience.
The development of the network using an automation system model allows XL Axiata to manage and enhance operational value at a high level. This model is based on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, which boost operational efficiency, planning accuracy, and response speed to network disruptions. Thus, XL Axiata can assess and design steps for continuous network performance improvement.
“AOMM provides us with a clear framework to understand the maturity level of automation we have achieved and to determine our next steps. By using this model, we hope to achieve significant performance improvements, not only in operational efficiency but also in enhancing customer experience,” added Gede.
Meanwhile, Kevin Zhou, Director of Carrier Network Business Group (CNBG) at Huawei Indonesia, stated that digital transformation will continue to be a focus for global development in the coming decade. XL Axiata's achievement in automation within the AOMM framework indicates that the company is on the right path for a significant leap in digitalization.
“In the future, Huawei will continue to strengthen its collaboration with XL Axiata in building a solid digital foundation and enhancing large-scale commercial automation with a customer focus,” said Kevin Zhou. He affirmed that XL Axiata and Huawei will deliver automated and intelligent IP transport services that promise the best experience, leading digital transformation in the Asia-Pacific region and setting a benchmark for the global digital economy.
XL Axiata has three main pillars in its network development strategy: service convergence, operational automation, and network reliability. Below is a summary of each pillar:
XL Axiata integrates mobile services, home broadband (XL Home), and enterprise solutions within a single infrastructure. This allows them to offer comprehensive solutions that meet diverse customer needs through one integrated network.
The use of technologies such as Self-Organized Network (SON) for radio access optimization and SDN/SRv6 for automatic path management in the transport network. This automation enhances operational productivity by speeding up response times to network disruptions and reducing potential errors.
With a focus on high and stable network performance, XL Axiata aims to provide a consistent user experience. Real-time network monitoring enables early detection and resolution of issues before they impact customers.
The collaboration with Huawei in automation development directly impacts XL Axiata's customer experience. With advanced automation systems, the network is now better equipped to handle sudden traffic spikes, allowing customers to enjoy digital services like video streaming, online gaming, and IoT applications without disruption.
“We are committed to providing the best services for our customers. AOMM Level 3.0 became an important foundation to ensure that every aspect of our network operations runs optimally and with minimal disruptions,” Gede further added.
The implementation of automation not only improves network quality but also helps XL Axiata to address challenges such as spectrum limitations and infrastructure costs. Automation allows the company to optimize spectrum usage and minimize operational costs, ensuring that quality services are accessible to a broader segment of the community.
With the successful achievement of AOMM Level 3.0, XL Axiata continues to build the foundation for a more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable future in telecommunications. XL Axiata is committed to speeding up the adoption of 5G technology, supporting the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem, and creating infrastructure that is efficient in energy consumption to support the vision of national sustainability.
