XL Axiata Continues The Distribution Of Free Internet Packages For Students

1.8 million cards in East Java, 350 thousand cards in Lampung, and 125 thousand cards in West Kalimantan

Jakarta, September 24th, 2020. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) continues to distribute free internet package assistance to students in various provinces. This week, the distribution of assistance was carried out in Lampung for public school students, as well as in madrasah students in East Java and West Kalimantan area. This distribution program functions as an implementation of XL Axiata’s commitment by supporting the government in facilitating students and teachers carrying out long-distance learning (PJJ) during the Covid-19 pandemic. The donations were distributed in Surabaya, Pontianak, and Bandar Lampung, Thursday (24/9). The internet package in question consists of a starter card and a data quota of 30 GB.

 

For the Lampung Province, XL Axiata is ready to distribute 350 thousand internet packages so that students can immediately use them to participate in long-distance learning (PJJ). This program is part of XL Axiata’s collaboration with the Lampung Provincial Government and the Provincial Education and Informatics Office, and the Association of Provincial Communication and Informatics Offices of Indonesia (ASKOMPSI).

 

Deputy Governor of Lampung, Chusnunia Chalim, M.Si., M.Kn., Ph.D, symbolically handed over internet package assistance to student representatives at the Governor's Office of Lampung Province, Thursday (24/9). Also accompanying the deputy governor, including the Head of the Lampung Provincial Education Office, Drs. Sulpakar, MM, and Group Head of XL Axiata West Region, Desy Sari Dewi.

 

Chusnunia Chalim expresses his appreciation and gratitude to XL Axiata for the support that has been given to students and teachers in Lampung Province. This assistance is very useful when the need for internet packs are an option in the teaching and learning process. At that, he also adds that the aid should be immediately distributed to every student so that it could be used to take part in PJJ. He also advised students and teachers to remain enthusiastic in participating in the learning and teaching process even though it is done online.

 

 

Group Head of XL Axiata West Region Desy Sari Dewi, said, "XL Axiata continues to support the government in its efforts to assist the implementation of distance learning, especially by providing solutions to problems in the community's ability to obtain data quota to participate in PJJ. Hopefully, this support can be utilized optimally for PJJ by all students and teachers in Lampung Province. Along with the distribution of this internet package, we will also ensure that XL Axiata's data network is in prime condition for smooth PJJ throughout Lampung."

 

Desy adds that there are 350 thousand free internet packages given today, with 5,050 packages distributed in early September 2020. The distributed free data quota package can already be used by the students or teachers.

 

 

Distributing 1.8 million free internet packages for madrasah students and teachers

 

For the East Java region, XL Axiata provided a total of 1.8 million free internet packages for madrasa students and teachers. This assistance is a realization of XL Axiata’s collaboration with the Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia (Kemenag) in the “Distance Learning Digital Madrasah” program. Thursday (24/9), East Java Region XL Axiata Group Head, Bambang Parikesit symbolically handed it to the Head of the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of East Java Province, Dr. H. Ahmad Zayadi, M.Pd, through teleconference facilities, which was also witnessed by representatives of the Ministry of Religion offices in 38 cities/regencies throughout East Java.

 

Bambang Parikesit said, “With this assistance, we hope that the burden on some students and their parents will be lighter as well as for the teachers and education staff. The recipients of this package assistance can immediately use it to participate in PJJ. We will continue the distribution in other areas, namely in Sulawesi, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.”

 

Office Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of East Java Province, Dr. H. Ahmad Zayadi, M.Pd, said that there are a total of 12,923 madrasah schools from the MI, MTs, and Aliyah levels, both public and private in East Java Province. For the number of students, the total is around 1.8 million students.

 

The distribution of free internet cards for madrasa students and teachers is also done by XL Axiata in the West Kalimantan area. A total of 125 thousand free internet packages have been prepared to be distributed immediately throughout the province. According to the Group Head of XL Axiata for the Jabodetabek & Kalimantan Region, Francky Rinaldo Pakpahan, after the collaboration program was officiated last week by the Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia in Jakarta, his party immediately distributed it to a number of areas in West Kalimantan by the start of this week.

 
Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of West Kalimantan Province, H. Ridwansyah, stated that in West Kalimantan Province there are a total of 1,049 madrasas from the MI, MTs, and Aliyah levels, both public and private. For the number of students, a total of more than 133 thousand students. Most madrasah schools are located in suburban and rural areas, where many families of students do need support to be able to provide data quotas for PJJ.

 

The free internet package from XL Axiata is in the form of a starter pack, which includes a data quota of 30GB. The data quota can then be used to access a number of applications most often used by teachers to send course materials or assignments to students, namely the Microsoft Teams application, Zoom, Google Meet, Google Hangout, Google Classroom, and WhatsApp. Aside from that, the data quota can also be used to open applications and websites that provide additional materials for learning references, namely Udemy, the Ruang Guru, Zenius, Sekolahmu, as well as the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Learning Center website and the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Spada Indonesia. For madrasah students, the quota can be used to obtain learning materials available at https://elearning.kemenag.go.id/madrasahberbagi.
