Employee Social Services and Taklim Council of XL Axiata Build Healthy Latrines in Tegal and Green Tourism in Lampung
Share

Tegal, 18 November 2022. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) and its employees continue to contribute to the community in various regions. In early November 2022, the social action targeted people who live in mountainous areas in South Tegal, and the city of Bandar Lampung. This social action departs from the strong desire of XL Axiata Business Solutions employees to help improve the community’s quality of life up to the remote villages, where XL Axiata's services and network are part of the daily life of the local community.

In Tegal Regency, precisely in Guci Village, Bumijawa District, the XL Axiata Business Solutions team together with the XL Axiata Taklim Council (MTXL) built a healthy latrine facility. The basic facilities built according to these health standards are to complement the needs of the Taman Hati Tirto Aji PAUD in the village. Currently, the school for early childhood education does not have these facilities. This development fund comes from a collective of XL Axiata Business Solutions employees. On that occasion, MTXL Axiata also distributed zakat funds to orphans and the underprivileged.

Through this social action, XL Axiata employees also donated educational donations in the form of a set of laptops, modems, and stationery for the same PAUD. In addition, there was also compensation for 19 poor students and 3 teachers who were classified as underprivileged. The handover was made on Friday (11/11) by XL Axiata's Chief Enterprise & SME Officer, Feby Sallyanto.

Feby Sallyanto said, “The existence of adequate MCK is quite urgent in the process of teaching and learning activities. Meanwhile, economically, the condition of most of the surrounding communities, especially parents and teaching staff, is also inadequate for the provision of MCK facilities independently. Incidentally, XL Axiata Business Solutions is currently having activities at Guci. This is a good moment for us to all carry out this social service. We hope that this assistance will benefit the local community.

Meanwhile, Taman Hati Tirto Aji PAUD Manager, Nurul Khalifatun, said, “Thank God, for the MCK facilities that XL Axiata has provided. Before this assistance, MCK facilities at our place were very limited. We also cannot provide adequate MCK facilities to our students. In fact, from an early age, these children need to be taught the importance of improving the quality of life through the proper use of MCK."

Meanwhile, in Bandar Lampung City, employees and MTXL in collaboration with the National Amil Zakat Institute for the Indonesian Zakat Initiative (Laznas IZI) Lampung, launched the "Green Me" City Green Tourism program, Saturday (12/11). This program is in the form of an agro-tourism-based recreational and educational tourism area located in Labuhan Ratu Village, Kedaton District, Bandar Lampung City, Lampung. This program involves underprivileged residents to directly participate in managing, planting, and caring for vegetables, fruits, and fish farming. Present at the launch event were the Chairman of the XL Axiata Taklim Council, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya and the Director of Utilization of the Central IZI, Aan Suherlan.

Chairman of the XL Axiata Taklim Council, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya said, “The City Green Tourism Program uses zakat funds that come from XL Axiata employees to help people in need. XL Axiata is committed to continuing to increase its contribution to the community as a form of concern through sustainable CSR programs. We hope that, through this program, we can help build efforts to improve the economy of the people of Labuhan Ratu Village, Kedaton District. This program can also be part of efforts to support food security in Bandar Lampung City."

The "GreenMe" program, which was built since October 23, 2022, utilizes an area of approximately 500 square meters which is leased land. This location was also developed to become an educational tourist destination for vegetable plants, fruit, and fish. Vegetables, fruit and fish produced will be sold to destination visitors, the general public or for the needs of small and medium industries; currently, there are around 6 people who are employees at this place. There are also three cities running this program among others Yogyakarta, Balikpapan, and Palu.
