Enhancing Student & Faculty Competence XL Axiata and Garut University Form Collaboration Fostering Technology

GARUT, JUNE 30, 2024. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) partners with Garut University (UNIGA) to enhance the fulfillment of the Tri Dharma of higher education—Education, Research, and Community Service. Through this collaboration, UNIGA students will leverage XL Axiata's technology, network, and telecommunications services for learning and community engagement. The memorandum of agreement was signed by Garut University's Chancellor, Dr. Ir. H. Abdusy Syakur Amin, M.Eng, IPU, and XL Axiata's President Director & CEO, Dian Siswarini, on the UNIGA campus on Friday, (28/6).

 

Dian Siswarini, President Director & CEO of XL Axiata, expressed, "It is a privilege for XL Axiata to collaborate with UNIGA, aiming to enhance the fulfillment of our respective roles and responsibilities within our authorities and scopes. This partnership focuses on enhancing cooperation in education, research, community service, and institutional resource development. Our aspiration is for XL Axiata to create significant benefits for UNIGA and its students, by integrating digital technology into the teaching and learning process, thereby advancing community welfare through technology, networks, and telecommunications services, particularly in education, healthcare, and economic sectors, fostering community independence and development."

 

Dian further explained that XL Axiata's decision to collaborate with Garut University, situated in a district in West Java, arises from the university's potential to cultivate future-ready human resources prepared for the workforce. XL Axiata remains open to collaborating with any institution, including universities, committed to enhancing educational quality through the integration of XL Axiata's technology, thereby facilitating easier learning and enhancing competencies for the digital era among young generations.

 

Meanwhile, Dr. Ir. H. Abdusy Syakur Amin, M.Eng, IPU, the Chancellor of Garut University, expressed optimism about the collaboration with XL Axiata. With internship and practical work programs provided by XL Axiata, he anticipates that students will develop practical skills and gain firsthand experience, enabling the university to tailor its curriculum to meet industry demands effectively. This approach aims to ensure that Garut University graduates are well-prepared for the workforce with competencies aligned with market requirements.

 

It is hoped that this partnership will be sustainable and to grow further in the future, beyond the short term.

 

 

XL Axiata CEO Delivered Public Lecture

 

During the event, Dian Siswarini, President Director & CEO of XL Axiata, also delivered a public lecture to UNIGA students titled "Preparing for a Digital-Driven Workplace". Dian Siswarini in her general lecture emphasized the importance of students mastering their respective fields along with additional skills such as digital literacy, agility, and effective communication for career development. She encouraged students to fully utilize internship opportunities in companies to build valuable experience that will benefit their future careers after graduation.

 

The public lecture also featured XL Axiata's Human Capital Expert, Putri Lintang, who spoke on "Women Empowerment". Putri Lintang highlighted the increasing role and contributions of women across various fields including science and technology, social sciences, and humanities. Putri Lintang encouraged Garut University students to explore their potential, participate in various campus and external programs, such as joining organizations, taking part in competitions, and joining internship programs at various companies or institutions. The most important thing for women is to recognize their abilities, develop them in various opportunities, and implement their knowledge effectively.

 

Approximately 100 students from diverse departments, along with rectors, deans, and university administrators, attended the lecture. The aim is for students to broaden their knowledge, especially in soft skills and other areas that support their academic pursuits.
