The W20 Presidency of Indonesia also hopes that the four main issues related to women's empowerment that have been set during the Indonesian presidency can be continued at the W20 Presidency of India next year. These issues include rejecting discrimination and promoting gender equality, women-owned and led MSMEs, health responses that prioritize gender equality, and rural women and women with disabilities.

Nusa Dua, 14 November 2022. The Post-Summit of Women20 (W20) just took place, 13-14 November 2022, in Nusa Dua, Bali. This last meeting in Indonesia also marks the end of the W20 Indonesia leadership stick this year, in accordance with the end of the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 forum. India, which will lead the G20 in 2023, will also lead the W20 throughout the next year.

In her remarks, the Indonesian Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Bintang Puspayoga, said that in fact through this Post Summit, the W20 Presidency of Indonesia also hoped that the four main issues related to women's empowerment that had been set during the Indonesian presidency could be continued at the W20 Presidency of India next year. These issues include:

  1. Rejecting discrimination and encouraging gender equality.
  2. Women-owned and led MSMEs.
  3. Response of health prioritizing gender equality.
  4. Rural women and women with disabilities.

Bintang Puspayoga added that in the first and second issues, the emphasis was on how to promote equality, security, and welfare by eliminating discrimination policies. In addition, it also describes how to achieve economic inclusion through support for MSMEs owned and managed by women. It also discussed the importance of embracing intersectionality to accelerate the progress of women's empowerment.

Meanwhile, on the third and fourth issues, W20 Indonesia places more emphasis on the health response of marginalized women, especially those in rural areas and people with disabilities. This issue describes how global challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic have disproportionately impacted women. The pandemic has greatly impacted the health of mothers, families, and even services for women victims of gender-based violence. Furthermore, W20 wants to highlight the health response, especially those with gender justice.

The Chair of W20 Indonesia, Hadriani Uli Silalahi, said that to truly achieve gender equality, W20 needs to emphasize the importance of accountability. Therefore, the G20's focus on gender equality needs to be monitored and evaluated regularly. W20 Indonesia has consistently called on G20 leaders to issue declarations that focus on the importance of gender equality.

Uli also said that at the last W20 meeting, Indonesia also ensured the implementation of four main agendas, namely:

  1. Delegate W20 roles to the wider community to be able to contribute to the surrounding environment.
  2. Ensure “Communique” of W20 is well-delivered to the G20 leaders.
  3. Disseminate the recommendation of W20 to the G20 leaders, sherpa, women’s organizations, academics, stakeholders, and the public as the main focus on women’s empowerment.
  4. Reporting and handover process from the W20 Indonesia committee to the delegation of W20 India.

"W20 is the first working group and engagement group from the G20 Indonesian presidency that has completed the post-summit with good results. This achievement also shows the W20 presidency of Indonesia as the best and most comprehensive working group and engagement group in producing “Communique” and completing all series of meetings since it started in last December 2021", explained Uli further.

In the conclusion of the post-summit results, the Co-Chair of W20 Indonesia, Dian Siswarini, said, “Since W20 Indonesia has officially submitted the W20 “Communique” in July, I hope that this Post-Summit event will continue to strengthen our recommendations, so that our requests will be heard by the world leaders and be part of the discussions of the upcoming G20 summit.”

The W20 Indonesia “Communique” itself contains recommendations to G20 leaders to ensure that the interests of women and girls become a significant part of Indonesia's G20 presidency. Directly, W20 Indonesia encourages the government to:
