The government appreciates the hard work of chairs, co-chairs, delegation members, advocates, knowledge partners, international institutions, civil society, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders who have provided support and contributions to the G20 EMPOWER. There are more than 100 awards given to 61 advocates, 15 sponsors, and 25 committees.

12 January 2023.  The G20 EMPOWER has succeeded in placing women's issues and gender equality in the G20 Indonesian Presidency forum throughout 2022. At its peak, this issue was also successfully included as part of the contents of the declaration of the G20 Leaders of the Indonesian Presidency. For the success of raising women's issues and gender equality, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (KPPPA) of the Republic of Indonesia gave awards and appreciation to all G20 EMPOWER Indonesia stakeholders who have contributed. KPPPA Minister, Bintang Puspayoga, handed over the certificate of appreciation in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/1).

Bintang Puspayoga said, "The G20 Declaration has made significant progress, in which the G20 countries have agreed and are committed to women's empowerment and gender equality in a separate complete statement contained in point 46 of the commitment of the G20 Leaders Declaration in Bali. This shows that the G20 member countries are also serious about placing women as the core of inclusive and sustainable development. This achievement is certainly inseparable from the hard work of G20 EMPOWER partners, advocates, and parties involved in the success of the series of activities.”

"Hearing from fellow advocates of the G20 EMPOWER, many programs and activities are running well and continuously. This will be beneficial for women and us in the KemenPPPA ranks, who are given the mandate regarding women's empowerment. Therefore, I hope that these G20 EMPOWER advocates can continue their work by making periodic management and coordinating activities carried out by their respective company commitments," said Bintang Puspayoga further.

Since December 2021 to November 2022, Indonesia officially held the presidency at the G20 2022, including the G20 EMPOWER. The PPPA Ministry together with XL Axiata and the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI), became the focal point in carrying out the G20 EMPOWER tasks. One of the important issues raised is how to embed the importance of women's leadership in the private and public sectors.

There were 101 awards given to 61 advocates, 15 sponsors, and 25 committees. As advocates of G20 EMPOWER Indonesia, it was given to Grab Indonesia Country Managing Director, Neneng Goenadi, President Director & CEO of XL Axiata, Dian Siswarini, PLN General Manager of the Electricity Engineering Center of PT PLN (Persero), Chairani Rahmatullah, and Finance Director of PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping, Emma Sri Martini. In addition, one of the sponsor representatives who also attended to receive appreciation was the Chairman and CEO of SinarMas Agribusiness & Food Indonesia, Franky Oesman Widjaja. This award, of course, was given by looking at the various contributions, both offline and online, that have been made during the implementation of the Indonesian Presidency's G20 EMPOWER activities.

The Chair of the G20 EMPOWER of the Indonesian Presidency, Yessie D Yosetya, revealed, "As a working group, the G20 EMPOWER has shown its commitment to supporting the role of women from the business side, especially women entrepreneurs, in efforts to handle and resolve issues related to women's empowerment globally."

According to Yessie, the issue of women's economic revival and children’s protection from the impacts that arose after the Covid-19 pandemic became one of the important points included in the G20 Leaders' Declaration in Bali. This point is of course to respond to global challenges and issues related to women, which need serious attention.

Meanwhile, the Co-Chair of the G20 EMPOWER of the Indonesian Presidency, Rinawati Prihatiningsih, said that the journey of the G20 EMPOWER did not end here, there were still many tasks and responsibilities that had to be completed quickly. According to her, the mutual cooperation that has been built during the G20 of the Indonesian Presidency yesterday can continue to ignite to encourage the process of transforming the economic empowerment of women and girls through an approach that is inclusive, ambitious, and action-oriented toward building a sustainable future.

"We want to see more and more women who can take strategic roles within the scope of decision-makers. Including in terms of control in determining the best for herself. In the future, it is hoped that the role of each party will be able to accelerate the perinatal increase in the number of women's empowerment globally," continued Rinawati.

The G20 EMPOWER of the Indonesian Presidency will continue to push for the implementation of the recommendations that have been prepared by the G20 EMPOWER in 2022. Including, tracking and ensuring there are real results implemented by the government and all elements involved in it.
