XL Axiata's 28th Anniversary: Employees Host Blood Donation Drives in 5 Cities Across Sumatra

MEDAN, OCTOBER 3, 2024. In celebration of XL Axiata's 28th anniversary, employees held simultaneous blood donation drives across 5 cities in Sumatra. The blood drives took place at XL Axiata offices in Medan, Pekanbaru, Jambi, Bengkulu, and Palembang on Thursday (3/10). The collected donations from this social initiative will be given to the Medan Children’s Oncology Foundation (YOAM) and distributed to children battling cancer in Medan. Meanwhile, in Pekanbaru, Jambi, Bengkulu, and Palembang, the blood will be distributed through the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to those in need. #SelaluAdaUntukIndonesia

 

Participants in this event included Head of Sales W-Southern Sumatra 2, Budi Utama Lubis, Head of Sales W-Central Sumatra 1, Oloan Monang Sinambela, Territory Sales – Convergence XL Axiata Jambi, Efredi, Territory Sales XL Axiata Bengkulu, Zuhdianto, XL Axiata employees, journalists, and the public.

 

Group Head of XL Axiata West Region, Desy Sari Dewi, stated, "Blood donation is a routine activity organized by XL Axiata employees as a way to support children with cancer in need of blood, as well as to assist the wider community. Alongside the blood drive, we partnered with Columbia Asia Hospital in Medan to provide free health checkups for donors, including tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid. We hope this initiative helps promote better health among XL Axiata employees, journalists, and the public.”

 

Desy added that the simultaneous blood donation drive across 5 cities in Sumatra successfully collected a total of 161 bags of blood from donors. This activity was originally a routine event at XL Medan's office. Moving forward, it will become a regular agenda for XL Axiata employees in Sumatra, in collaboration with journalists, partners, institutions, and the public.

 

Participants in this initiative included XL Axiata employees, the XL Axiata Religious Council (MTXL Axiata), XL SATU, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Pewarta Foto Indonesia (PFI) from Medan, Pekanbaru, and Palembang, the Indonesian Female Journalists Forum (FJPI) from North Sumatra and Jambi, the Health Journalists Forum (Forwakes) North Sumatra, the Medan Children’s Oncology Foundation (YOAM), H. Adam Malik General Hospital in Medan, Columbia Asia Hospital Aksara – Medan, D’Sisters, Kopi Boi, and the public.

 

XL Axiata’s blood donation drives have been a regular event since 2012, held every three months. To date, more than 1,500 bags of blood have been donated to children with cancer and others in need. This blood donation event is always highly anticipated by regular donors who participate every quarter due to the many benefits they experience. Among these benefits are a reduced risk of heart and vascular disease, lower cancer risk, weight management, early detection of serious illnesses, and improved psychological well-being. #JadiLebihBaik
