XL Axiata’s Disability Awareness Program Ready for Work: Recruiting 20 Disabled Individuals for an Internship at XL Axiata

In line with the XL Axiata Peduli Disabilitas Siap Kerja (Disability Awareness Ready for Work) program, XL Axiata is inviting 20 selected disabled individuals to participate in an internship program at XL Axiata. The chosen participants will undergo a six-week internship from September 17 to October 22, 2024.

JAKARTA, SEPTEMBER 6, 2024. After conducting digital skills training for 115 disabled individuals, PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata), through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs XL Axiata Peduli and XL Axiata Baik, is again inviting 20 selected disabled individuals to participate in an internship at XL Axiata. This internship will run for six weeks, from September 17 to October 22, 2024. This program is part of the XL Axiata Peduli Disabilitas Siap Kerja initiative.

 

The participants in this program come from six disabled communities, including: Dilans Indonesia Bandung, Khadijah Sharaswaty House for People with Disabilities Medan, Peduli Kasih Foundation for Children with Special Needs Surabaya, FeminisThemis Surabaya, Bisindo and Accessibility Team Surabaya, and Indonesian Disabled Persons Association. The program also receives support from Yayasan Benihbaik and the Bloggercrony community.

 

Marwan O. Baasir, Chief Corporate Affairs of XL Axiata, stated, “We are thankful that our digital skills training for 115 disabled individuals has been completed successfully. We appreciate the outstanding cooperation and teamwork with six local disability community partners in Surabaya, Medan, Bandung, and Jakarta, as well as the support from other partners and stakeholders that made this possible. Marwan stated that, as part of the ongoing XL Axiata Peduli Disabilitas Siap Kerja initiative, XL Axiata, through its XL Axiata Peduli and XL Axiata Baik programs, is once again offering 20 chosen participants the opportunity to join an internship at XL Axiata. The selection process for these interns has followed the program’s established criteria and requirements. It is hoped that these 20 participants will fully benefit from their internship experience at XL Axiata.

 

Among the 20 selected interns, 10 are from Jakarta, 3 from Surabaya, 3 from Medan, and 4 from Bandung. They will be assigned to XL Axiata offices in their respective cities and will participate in the internship concurrently for six weeks, from September 17 to October 22, 2024.

Hira Kurnia, Chief Human Capital Officer at XL Axiata, expressed, “On behalf of XL Axiata’s management, I extend my congratulations to the 20 disabled individuals chosen for our internship program. Throughout the internship, these individuals will be assigned to a range of business units, including Corporate Communication, Corporate Brand, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Human Capital (Information Systems, Employee Relations, Facility Management, Learning and Development), Marketing XL SATU, Marketing XL PRIORITAS, Marketing Business Solutions, and Customer Service and Knowledge Management.”

 

Hira mentioned that to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for all participants, 16 employees have volunteered as Buddy XL Axiata through the XL Axiata Baik program. These Buddies will support and facilitate interactions between the disabled interns and the rest of the staff during their internship at XL Axiata. They have received special training to improve communication and engagement with the interns.

 

Furthermore, XL Axiata has established an inclusive work environment to welcome the disabled interns. This includes accessible workspaces, meeting rooms, prayer areas, cafeterias, restrooms, and other facilities, as well as an adaptive digital system in the work environment. These accommodations are designed to support and enhance the interns’ experience at XL Axiata.

 

Earlier, the XL Axiata Peduli Disabilitas Siap Kerja program offered digital skills training to 115 disabled individuals in Surabaya on August 2-3, 2024, Medan on August 6-7, 2024, Bandung on August 10-11, 2024, and Jakarta on August 22-23, 2024. Through these sessions, XL Axiata seeks to enhance the potential, skills, and confidence of disabled individuals, helping them to take initiative, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and secure equal opportunities in the workforce, continuing to #JadiLebihBaik.
