Deli Serdang, 24 November 2022. Employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) distributed donations to flood victims in Paluh Manan Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency. The flood that hit this village for several days, still submerging residents' houses, making it difficult for residents to do their activities. The Head of Sales of XL Axiata Greater Medan, Oloan Monang Sinambela, handed over the donations to the residents of Paluh Manan Village, Nasrul which was witnessed by residents and local community leaders at the Office of the Village Head of Paluh Mana, Wednesday (23/11).
Group Head of XL Axiata West Region, Desy Sari Dewi said, "The floods that hit Deli Serdang are of concern to XL Axiata employees. We are concerned about the flood disaster which is still submerging residents' homes in Deli Serdang and its surroundings. Many residents have their homes and properties are waterlogged. This donation is the result of collecting zakat funds which are routinely collected every month and managed by the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council. Part of this donation also came from XL Axiata employees in Sumatra to be distributed to people who are entitled to receive it. Hopefully this donation will be useful for the flood victims."
Desy added that this assistance was at the same time a form of concern from XL Axiata employees to ease the burden on the people of Paluh Manan Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency who were facing flooding. The assistance provided was in the form of basic daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil, tea, sugar, instant noodles and soy sauce which are urgently needed by the people who are currently affected by the floods. XL Axiata continues to spread goodness by establishing friendship with community groups from various walks of life.
On this occasion, XL Axiata also made donations in the form of staple food for several Retail Outlets (RO) which were flood victims in Hamparan Perak, Deli Serdang. The assistances were handed over by the Territory Sales Manager of XL Axiata Deli Serdang area, Oloan Martua Rajagukguk to the store owner of Ulfi Ponsel, Ulfi.
Floods that hit Hamparan Perak, Deli Serdang have occurred since 19 November 2022, which have inundated residents' homes and damaged their property. High rainfall is one of the factors causing the floods in Hamparan Perak to not recede.
Village Head of Paluh Manan, Nasrul said, “Thank you for the attention and donations given to our villagers by XL Axiata employees. This is the biggest flood since the last 20 years. Currently, we have built a public kitchen for the meals of the villagers and its surroundings. Several residents were also forced to sleep in the village office and also in neighbour’s house. The next day they returned home to see the condition of the flooded houses. May God repay your kindness and concern. Hopefully XL Axiata will continue to grow and advance in Indonesia."
Regarding XL Axiata's services during the Deli Serdang flood, overall the XL Axiata network in all areas of Deli Serdang Regency is in a safe condition, so it can still be used by people who need telecommunication services. XL Axiata will continue to monitor the condition of devices and networks in this area so that they can continue to operate in the current flood emergency situation. Throughout Deli Serdang Regency, services to customers are supported by more than 750 BTS.
All funds collected from XL Axiata employees through the MTXL Disaster Response Program were channelled directly by holding various social actions for Indonesian people in various regions. Apart from being distributed in the form of emergency assistance to disaster-affected areas, funds from employees were also channelled into various social activities, such as the construction and renovation of village bridges, the construction of mosques, power plants, house renovations and water refill depots.
