Medan, 30 December 2022. Employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) through the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council (MTXL Axiata) distributed donations of books and school equipment for children who live on the outskirts of the Deli River, Medan City, North Sumatra, Friday (30/12). Donations are given to help children enjoy reading and learning. The donation was given by Regional Corporate Communication of XL Axiata West Region, Aldi Desmet directly to the Chairperson of the Community Care for Children and Deli River (Kopasude), Astarina Ayu Ningtyas Sugiharto, who manages the library located on the banks of the Deli River.
Chairman of the Central MTXL Axiata, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya said, "Some of XL Axiata's employees have become part of the local community, both for work and for living. This assistance is a form of our concern to help people who need reading books and school equipment around the river in Medan City. We hope that children will become fonder of reading books and with the assistance provided it will be beneficial for children's studies and schools."
Yanuar added that the donation activities for the poor are part of the MTXL Axiata Program which continues to be committed to being present in the community, especially in dealing with various social problems and disasters. The assistance funds distributed by his party are the result of collecting infaq funds for XL Axiata employees which are routinely collected every month and managed by the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council to be distributed to people in need.
Chairperson of the Deli River and Children Care Community (Kopasude), Astarina Ayu Ningtyas, appreciated the concern of XL Axiata employees for the condition of the children living along the Deli River. He hoped that the children would be more diligent in reading and studying. And, more and more parties are concerned with efforts to improve the quality of life for people along the river, especially children. He also encouraged all parties to improve the cleanliness of the river, considering that there are still many people who use it for various activities.
