Langkat, 10 September 2022. Employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) through the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council (MTXL Axiata) distributed donations for victims of the fire that scorched 34 houses in Matfa Village, located in Telaga Said Village, Sei Lepan District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. Donation given to help build houses that burned down. Symbolically, Regional Corporate Communication of XL Axiata West Region, Aldi Desmet handed over the donation directly to the Matfa Village Leader, Tuwan Imam Hanafi and a number of local community leaders in Langkat, Friday (9/9).
The head of MTXL Axiata Center, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya, said, “We are sorry for the fire that destroyed 34 houses in Matfa Village. Some of XL Axiata's employees have become part of the local community, both for work and for living. This assistance is a form of our concern to help people who are currently being affected by the fire that hit the settlements of the residents of Telaga Said Village, Sei Lepan District, Langkat Regency. We hope that the assistance provided can ease the burden on the fire victims.”
Yanuar added that this is one of the parts of the MTXL Axiata Disaster Response Program which aims to help Indonesian people who need assistance. The aid fund distributed by his party is the result of collecting infaq funds for XL Axiata employees which are routinely collected every month and managed by the XL Axiata Ta'lim Council.
The leader of Matfa Village, Tuwan Imam Hanafi, expressed his gratitude for the donations given. "Hopefully the employees will be blessed from their sustenance and the XL Axiata company will progress and prosper."
The fire that hit residential areas in Telaga Said Village, Sei Lepan District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra occurred on Monday, August 29, 2022 at around 11.30 WIB, which burned around 34 houses inhabited by 34 families and 136 people affected by the fire disaster. The fire had destroyed their homes and property. And now there are some residents who have to evacuate to relatives' houses, in mosques, schools and clinics because they have not been able to rebuild their houses.
