Sumbawa, 21 June 2022. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) ensures that the 4G network in Sumbawa is in good signal and ready to support the 2022 Motocross world event at the Samota Circuit, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, 24-26 June 2022. At least 47 4G BTS have been prepared to reach most of the area, including the circuit and surrounding tourist areas. XL Axiata also alerted 2 units of mobile BTS (MBTS) to anticipate traffic spikes during the world racing event.

According to Gede, previously the Samota area was covered by the XL Axiata 4G network, but the potential for traffic spikes in the Sumbawa area is very likely to occur during the Motocross world racing event. This is because local people and people from outside Sumbawa will come to Samota. This big event is also expected to attract foreign tourists to come. Moreover, Sumbawa also has a number of interesting tourist areas, which are also a tourist attraction. As more people come to the area, the need for data networks will also increase. Therefore, currently the XL Axiata team is ready in the field to ensure a reliable and quality network by increasing capacity and conducting network optimization.
XL Axiata is improving the quality of its 4G network not only in Samota, but also expanding the 4G network throughout Sumbawa, both for improving the quality of data and voice services in urban areas, as well as expanding to areas that were previously unreachable. Currently, 61 sub-districts and 5 districts/cities in Sumbawa are now served by XL Axiata's 4G service. In total, there are more than 390 BTS throughout Sumbawa, with 389 of them 4G BTS. The number of 4G BTS will continue to increase considering that currently XL Axiata is also still expanding in all districts in Sumbawa.
In addition to the expansion and addition of BTS, XL Axiata also continues to increase its 4G network capacity both in terms of radio and transmission, as well as through fiberization. Now most of the BTS in Sumbawa are fiberized and will continue to increase. Meanwhile, since the beginning of 2021 until now around 374 BTS have been increased in capacity. During the past year in the shadow of a pandemic, XL Axiata data traffic in Sumbawa continued to increase by around 89%, with the highest traffic increase in Bima Regency.
Currently, the XL Axiata network for the NTB area is supported by more than 5,000 BTS, including more than 2,600 4G BTS. XL Axiata's 4G LTE network also continues to be expanded, and XL Axiata continues to invest in fiber networks, transmission, backhaul, network modernization, and various other network upgrades to improve stability, network capacity, and service quality in line with the continued increase in data service traffic.
