Jakarta, March 7th , 2024 – Nokia today announced that Nokia and XL Axiata, a leading Indonesian telecom operator, have successfully completed a five-year project to modernize around 4,400 existing sites by replacing the existing network and adding new sites. XL Axiata used Nokia’s solution to activate 5G in four cities in Central Java Province: Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, and Pekalongam, in 2023. XL Axiata’s subscribers in the region are now able to enjoy improved network coverage and performance (Central Java region achieved the Highest Payload growth up to 27% among the other regions during 2023 Lebaran holiday and 2023 NARU holiday. Becomes solid number 1 in the Low Latency against other operators in the region from trusted Crowdsourced benchmarking data.
XL Axiata Indonesia is using Nokia’s AirScale, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), and Network Performance Improvement (NPI) program and modernized the network and improved capacity, ensuring an overall superior network performance. It also used Nokia’s Network Maintenance and Support services to ensure best-in-class quality of services. Nokia enabled network modernization in Central Java without any impact on customer experience.
XL Axiata Indonesia has invested to build 5G coverage in 4 cities in Central Java using Nokia 5G Technology. This 5G infrastructure will be used by 5G applications developers as a test bed and later to deploy their 5G applications. Furthermore, during the Executive Review Meeting in Finland at Nokia head quarter, XL Axiata and Nokia signed MOU Co-Development Program on 5G Cloud RAN to prepare XL in the future of various 5G deployment (insert picture).
