SMAN 2 Mojokerto Women’s Futsal Team Wins the AXIS Nation Cup 2024

The SMAN 2 Mojokerto Girls' Futsal Team dominated the regional qualifiers for the 2024 AXIS Nation Cup tournament. With decisive victory in each match, they moved to the regional stage and subsequently to the national level. Despite losing an early goal, their solid game strategy, player speed, and fighting spirit allowed them to dominate the match against SMAN 4 Jakarta. The 2024 AXIS Nation Cup Grand Final was held in the Indonesia Arena in GBK, with over 19,000 attendees.

Mojokerto, November 26, 2024 - The girls' futsal team from SMAN 2 Mojokerto, East Java, proved their excellence by winning the 2024 AXIS Nation Cup (ANC). They demonstrated supremacy in this national futsal event, including high schools and vocational schools from across Indonesia, from the qualifying rounds to the final, which took place on Saturday (11/16) at Indonesia Arena in Jakarta. In the final, SMAN 2 Mojokerto defeated SMAN 4 Jakarta 3-1 to win the championship.

 

Dodik Ariyanto, Regional Group Head of XL Axiata East Region, said, "We are very proud to see one of East Java's teams win this national event. This achievement emphasizes the immense potential of East Java Province's young generation, especially in sports. The AXIS Nation Cup demonstrates our commitment to their development, not only by providing high-quality tournaments, but also by encouraging them to continue dreaming and growing. We hope this win inspires other teams in East Java to achieve similar achievements."

 

Dodik added that this year's tournament marked a new milestone with the inclusion of a girls' futsal category. The 2024 AXIS Nation Cup not only awarded champions, but also provided an opportunity for young female athletes to go further. "We hope this category continues to thrive in the coming years," he stated. SMAN 2 Mojokerto won first place and received a trophy, medals, and a cash reward of Rp 50 million. Furthermore, the win has inspired the players to continue improving and strive to be part of Indonesia's national squad.

The SMAN 2 Mojokerto girls' futsal squad has performed impressively since the regional qualification rounds. They advanced to the regional stage and then to the national level after winning all of their matches convincingly. Despite surrendering the first goal, their solid game plan, player speed, and battling spirit allowed them to dominate SMAN 4 Jakarta in the final. Carissa Orianna Purnama scored the crucial goal in the 5th minute, followed by Nurul Hidayah in the 9th and 29th minutes.

 

Natasya Dhea Ananda, the team captain, expressed thanks and joy, adding, "We've been fighting since the preliminary stages, and this achievement is the result of hard effort and amazing support from the school, coaches, and friends. We are pleased to represent SMAN 2 Mojokerto on a national level."

 

The Grand Final of the AXIS Nation Cup 2024 held at the Indonesia Arena, with over 19,000 attendees and 3.3 million online viewers. More than 200,000 visitors watched the preliminary rounds in 40 cities, including Serang, Tangerang, Bogor, Bekasi, Jakarta, Sukabumi, Depok, Bandung, Cianjur, Cirebon, Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, Semarang, Tasikmalaya, Sumedang, Tegal, Denpasar, Surabaya, Kupang, Malang, Mataram, Aceh, Medan, Tebing Tinggi, Palembang, Padang, Jambi, Pekanbaru, Lampung, Batam, Pontianak, Balikpapan, Samarinda, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya, Manado, Gorontalo, Palu, Kendari, and Makassar.
