XL Axiata Delivered Assistance to Natural Disaster Victims in Gorontalo

GORONTALO, JULY 30, 2024 - PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata), through its XL Axiata Peduli Program, has distributed aid to victims of the recent floods and landslides in Gorontalo, which occurred in July 2024. The assistance included daily necessities such as rice, instant noodles, eggs, canned food, and cooking oil. The aid was delivered directly to the affected victims at evacuation sites by XL Axiata representatives, in cooperation with the Benihbaik Foundation, at a shelter located in Donggala, Hulonthalangi, Gorontalo City last week.

 

Mozes H. Baottong, the Caretaker of XL Axiata Sulawesi Area, stated, "XL Axiata is concerned about the floods and landslides in Gorontalo, which have forced residents to evacuate to safer areas. This aid represents XL Axiata's concern and aims to provide easy access to essential supplies for the people of Gorontalo. We coordinated our emergency assistance with local authorities, and we hope it helps alleviate the burden on the victims. We hope the disaster subsides soon, allowing the community to return to normal activities and #BeBetter."

 

Mozes emphasized that XL Axiata has ensured the network remains stable and has not suffered significant disruptions, allowing it to operate normally throughout the disaster. The technical team is on alert, actively monitoring the network to ensure that the community can maintain access to data services and stay in touch with their families.

 

According to data from the Gorontalo Regency BPBD, 35 villages/sub-districts in eight sub-districts were affected by the floods. Overall, the disaster impacted 6,531 households or 21,638 people, submerging 4,623 homes.

 

Currently, XL Axiata services its customers with 4G data network coverage across Gorontalo. XL Axiata has around 500 BTS, including more than 300 4G BTS.

 

 

XL Axiata Provides Disaster Relief in Other Regions of Indonesia

 

XL Axiata also extended aid to victims of the cold lava flood from Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency, East Java, and the eruption of Mount Ruang in the Siau Islands, Tagulandang Biaro (Sitaro) Regency, North Sulawesi. The assistance included daily necessities such as rice, instant noodles, eggs, canned food, and cooking oil.

 

For the cold lava flood of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency, East Java, XL Axiata provided aid to affected communities in Kali Regoyo, Dampar, Welang, and Kaligede hamlets, located in Sumber Wuluh Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang, East Java.

 

Regarding the eruption of Mount Ruang in the Siau Islands, Tagulandang Biaro (Sitaro) Regency, North Sulawesi, XL Axiata distributed donations to evacuees in Kleak Village, Malalayang District, Manado City.
