PALANGKARAYA, OCTOBER 30, 2024. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) through XL Axiata Care Program (Program XL Axiata Peduli) has distributed aid to victims of the flooding that struck Sanggau in West Kalimantan and Murung Raya in Central Kalimantan in October 2024. The assistance includes essential supplies such as rice, instant noodles, eggs, canned food, and cooking oil. Representatives from XL Axiata, in collaboration with the Benihbaik Foundation, delivered the aid directly to affected communities last week.

Sarroso Dwi Panggah, the Caretaker for XL Axiata’s Kalimantan Area, expressed, “We are deeply concerned about the flood disaster affecting several regions in West and Central Kalimantan, particularly in Sanggau and Murung Raya, which has forced many residents to evacuate their homes. Through this assistance, XL Axiata hopes to lighten the burden on the victims and support their daily needs during this emergency situation. We are also coordinating with local authorities and governments to ensure the smooth distribution of aid. We hope conditions improve soon so that the community can return to normal activities.”

In addition to basic necessities, XL Axiata is providing communication support for the victims and field personnel. The XL Axiata technical team remains on standby to ensure network functionality, even in areas affected by flooding. This is expected to help residents who need communication to stay connected with their families and authorities.

According to data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the floods in West and Central Kalimantan have impacted thousands of homes and public facilities, including schools and places of worship. In Sanggau, the floods have submerged much of the Barage, Tabat, Tahan, Sosok I and II, Dangku, Moling, and Perayan Dangku areas, forcing hundreds of families to seek safer shelter. In Murung Raya, thousands of residents in seven sub-districts—Seribu Riam, Uut Murung, Barito Tuhup Raya, Laung Tuhup, Sumber Barito, Permata Intan, and Murung—have also evacuated due to significantly rising water levels.

XL Axiata has a 4G network that covers most of the affected areas in West and Central Kalimantan. In both provinces, XL Axiata operates more than 4,000 BTS, the majority of which are 4G, serving the communication needs of the community. Despite this disaster situation, XL Axiata’s services continue to function effectively, supporting communication for both the community and field personnel.

With this aid, XL Axiata aims to make a tangible contribution to communities affected by natural disasters. Through XL Axiata Care Program, the company is committed to being present for those in difficult times, fostering resilience and preparedness in communities facing emergencies.
