MEDAN, JANUARY 10, 2025 – Employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata), via MTXL Axiata, organised a mass circumcision event for children with disabilities. On Friday, October 1, at the Khadijah Sharaswaty Indonesia Disability Centre in Medan, at least 60 children with visual, hearing, physical, and intellectual disabilities (including Down syndrome) were circumcised. This social initiative was carried out in collaboration with Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia (IZI), Khadijah Sharaswaty Indonesia Disability Centre (KSI), and Pewarta Foto Indonesia (PFI), Medan.

This event was attended by Horas Lubis, Head of Sales XL Axiata West Northern 1. Dewi Natadiningrat, Chairperson of Khadijah Sharaswaty Indonesia (KSI). Putra Anugrah Pramana, Head of Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia (IZI) North Sumatra and Riski Cahyadi, Chairperson of PFI Medan.

Amir MTXL Axiata, Yanuar Tirta Kumaya, stated, "Through this activity, we aim to demonstrate XL Axiata employees' caring for children with disabilities and provide them with good healthcare. For Muslims, circumcision is a religious responsibility, and we think that every kid, without exception, deserves proper care. We hope that this initiative relieves the burden on families desiring to circumcise their children and helps these children develop into righteous individuals, bringing blessings to everyone concerned."

The donations for this initiative came from XL Axiata employees' zakat contributions, which are collected and managed monthly by the XL Axiata Majelis Ta'lim before being disbursed to those in need. MTXL Axiata aspires to spread kindness and promote constructive cooperation with various groups in order to create community bonds and serve the Indonesian people. XL Axiata remains committed to improving community welfare, particularly for vulnerable groups that require more attention. This circumcision event is a tangible expression of the company's social obligation to build an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.

Putra Anugrah Pramana, Head of IZI North Sumatra, stated, "This mass circumcision program exemplifies the meaningful collaboration between MTXL Axiata and IZI, as well as other stakeholders, bringing significant benefits to the community while spreading blessings at the start of the year. Previously, MTXL Axiata and IZI organised mass circumcisions in Tegal and Banyuwangi. This time, the initiative expanded to Medan, North Sumatra, to spread its advantages to communities from other regions."

Mass circumcisions at Banyumas and Tegal

In late December 2024, MTXL Axiata also held mass circumcision events in two Central Java locations, Banyumas and Tegal. A total of 128 children participated, with 52 in Banyumas and 76 in Tegal. The events were held in Griya Sunat Al Rafi, Selandaka Village, Banyumas Regency, and Apotek Hidayah, Kalijambe Village, Tegal Regency, with the goal of assisting the local population in meeting their religious obligations.

The mass circumcision activities went beyond the medical procedure and provided the children with a positive experience. Activities included children's entertainment and gift packages containing refreshments and prayer basics, such as a set of baju koko and sarongs with MTXL Axiata branding. Furthermore, XL Axiata established particular booths at the event locations to introduce and help families with new starter pack (SP) registrations. This effort demonstrates XL Axiata's commitment to improving community connectivity and education about telecommunications services.

The local communities gave excellent feedback on these events. Parents expressed their appreciation for the initiative, which they found particularly useful as the conclusion of the year approached. Through programs like these, XL Axiata hopes to develop closer links with communities while also boosting societal well being through significant social initiatives.
