Jakarta, 30 September 2023. PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) and PT PLN (Persero) agreed to establish strategic cooperation to integrate the product services of both parties and explore the potential to create sustainable business solutions. Through this partnership, the two companies will optimize the use of digitalization and automation technology they have with the aim of improving public services and also providing a positive impact on the company's business.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on this cooperation was signed by the Director & Chief Enterprise and Corporate Affairs Officer of XL Axiata, Yessie D. Yosetya and the Director of Retail and Commerce at PLN, Edi Srimulyanti in Jakarta, Friday (29/9/2023).
Yessie D. Yosetya said, "We are committed to innovating and continuing to improve the quality of service for customers. Of course, the initiation of this collaboration has a background that cannot be separated from this. We are very confident that this collaboration between XL Axiata and PLN has the potential to mutually strengthen efforts to improve public services and also have a good impact on each company."
Yessie D. Yosetya added that through this collaboration, XL Axiata will implement smart metering using Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) which will make it easier to monitor usage and increase the efficiency of electricity consumption in all XL Axiata BTS towers.
Apart from that, this collaboration will also provide mutual support, both for XL Axiata and PLN. XL Axiata will provide support regarding potential collaboration in the PLN voucher product partnership which will be integrated into XL Axiata's touchpoints ecosystem and potential collaboration on business-to-business solutions. XL Axiata is very confident that this collaboration will provide benefits for each customer.
Meanwhile, Edi Srimulyanti said, "Through this strategic partnership, PLN will provide support for XL Axiata's network infrastructure through the provision of electricity or PLNization for XL Axiata BTS towers, increasing the accuracy of electricity consumption by providing Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Automatic Meters Reading (AMR), all of which will make it easier for XL Axiata to monitor kWh usage in all XL Axiata BTS towers."
Based on existing data, it is recorded that 98% of XL Axiata BTS towers are connected to the PLN infrastructure network. Currently, XL Axiata is trying to gradually transform using prepaid meter services and updating meters using AMI and AMR for postpaid meter services, which XL Axiata is still using. In the future, XL Axiata seeks to contribute to accelerating digitalization and automation at PLN by migrating prepaid services for around 40% of existing postpaid services.
To date, XL Axiata's 4G network has served 58 million customers with service coverage in more than 61 thousand villages, 5,700 districts, and 469 regencies in 38 provinces of Indonesia. Supported by more than 150 thousand BTS, the majority of which are 4G BTS, as well as a fiber optic backbone network that extends for more than 159 thousand km, supporting a data network spread across most of the vast Indonesian archipelago.
