The process of strengthening the data network continues to be done in line with the increasing traffic of data service usage due to the increasing number of activities to work, study and worship from home by the community. By principle, we will support the efforts to make customers feel at home during Ramadan, both for productive activities and worship or prayers. It will all be carried out well if the network that supports the Ramadan program is also adequate."
Dian added to her statement that currently there are a few areas experiencing relatively even increase in data traffic, such as the Sumatra region with an increase of 15.9%, the Greater Jakarta Area (Jabodetabek) and parts of Kalimantan (15.8%), regional Central: West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and parts of Kalimantan (15.5%), regional East: East Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and surrounding areas (15.8%). From the data and application usage patterns, streaming-based services dominates the usage, reaching around 66%, Instant Messaging (16%), Social Network (11.5%), and other services or application usages amounting to 6.5%. Overall, during the current period, the policy of working from home (WFH) and learning from home (SFH), for cellular service traffic there was an increase in traffic of around 18% compared to normal conditions, whereas for XL Home services the traffic increase was around 20% compared to normal conditions.
XL Axiata also utilizes Mobile BTS to be placed in various hospitals that are currently treating Covid-19 patients such as Referral Hospitals, Emergency Hospitals, along with residential areas and other strategic locations to support EID Mubarak 2020 in order for customers to be able to still communicate with their families and relatives.
Some promo programs that will be running during Ramadan such as the Xtra Unlimited TURBO feature for pre-paid XL customers that allows customers to access Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Line, and Gojek applications without quota (data) and speed limits. Gede added to the statement, by stating “during Ramadan and Eid Mubarak, we also anticipate an increase in traffic compared to normal days.
