Medan, 4 May 2023. In commemoration of National Education Day 2023, employees of PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) held a blood donation event at Grha XL Medan office, Diponegoro Road No. 5 Medan, Wednesday (3/5). In this activity, XL Axiata employees also distributed book donations to children studying under the auspices of Ranggi Literacy House, located in the PWI Housing Complex, PWI Street, Sampali Village, Percut Seituan District, Deli Serdang. The donation was symbolically handed over by Group Head of XL Axiata West Region, Desy Sari Dewi to the owner of Ranggi Literacy House, Ranggini.
Group Head of XL Axiata West Region, Desy Sari Dewi said, "Blood donation will also be a means to maintain public health. In conjunction with National Education Day, we also handed over book donations. This social activity is also a way for us as XL Axiata employees to continue to establish closeness with the people of Medan City and North Sumatra in general. It is always a pleasure if we are able to do something to ease the burden of suffering of the people around us. We usually organise this activity together with the Medan Children's Oncology Foundation (YOAM) and the journalist community in Medan, although it is simple, it is able to help children with cancer who need blood at any time. Hopefully, it will be beneficial for those who receive it."
Desy added that from the 50 people who registered for the blood donation today, a total of 45 blood bags were collected from the donors. The blood collected will be donated directly to the Medan Children's Oncology Foundation (YOAM) for further distribution to children with cancer.
This activity is in collaboration with Taklim Council of XL Axiata (MTXL), Pewarta Foto Indonesia (PFI) Medan, Indonesian Women Journalists Forum (FJPI) North Sumatra, Health Journalists Forum (Forwakes) North Sumatra, Medan Children's Oncology Foundation (YOAM) and RSUP H. Adam Malik Medan.
Blood donation and the poor donation activities are part of the MTXL Axiata’s Program with XL Axiata employees who continue to be committed to being present in the community, especially in dealing with various social problems and disasters. The aid funds distributed by this party are the result of the collection of XL Axiata employees' zakat funds which are routinely collected every month and managed by Taklim Council of XL Axiata to be distributed to people in need.
There are many benefits of blood donation for donors. Among some of the benefits of blood donation are lowering the risk of developing heart and blood vessel diseases, lowering the risk of cancer, helping to lose weight, detection of serious diseases and helping to be psychologically healthier.
XL Axiata employees in Medan have routinely organised blood donations since 2012 every three months. This activity is a form of concern for XL Axiata employees towards children with cancer. Furthermore, XL Axiata employees will hold a blood donation in August 2023 as a routine to maintain a healthy body and at the same time help children with cancer.
